These days a hen night is often considered ‘old hat’, or at least a bit tame. Hen weekends are all the rage, with many companies specialising in organising the whole shebang for you – at a price, of course.
With our help, the chief bridesmaid can arrange a hen weekend including the champagne gifts for the members of the hen party and a hen gift too from start to finish – read on for our special hen weekend guide...
Home or Abroad
The first decision to be made is whether to hold your hen weekend in the UK or abroad. Destinations such as Barcelona, Dublin and Prague are popular, as are far-flung locations like Las Vegas. A hen weekend abroad will obviously cost a lot more than one held at home, so the first thing to check out is the budget of the bride and hen guests. Don’t forget to book your trip well in advance, especially if travelling abroad. Do all the hen guests have passports? Give them plenty of time to sort out travel arrangements. Take the champagne with you, which could include personalised champagne as a gift for each member of the hen party for example (although if you are going abroad this may be a little tricky!) Perhaps present your personalised champagne to each member of the hen party either before you go away or on your return home as a special memory of the fun times you have had celebrating the last few days, months or weeks of the bride to be being single! Alternatively, if you are keen on the idea of champagne gifts, why not find a local supplier of
personalised champagne gifts at your destination whilst making your preparations?
UK Hot Spots
If you are holding your hen weekend in the UK then taking your champagne gifts with you may not be such as huge problem, there are many hot destinations to choose from. Places like Torquay and Oxford are catching up with old favourites Manchester, Newcastle and London. Try to choose a destination that is unfamiliar to everyone – or familiar to everyone – so you are all in the same boat.
Hen Activities
The bridesmaid can do a quick check of the activities the hen guests are up for – remembering to check with the bride for her likes and dislikes. More laid-back activities include pampering weekends at a health club or exclusive hotel, a West End show, a visit to a comedy club or a riverboat cruise. For the more athletic hen goers there’s horse riding, karting, paintballing or quad biking. Evening entertainment can include a medieval banquet, a night at the dogs or even a casino. And for those who like their hen weekend to be as raucous as possible, there is always the male stripper option. Don’t arrange a stripper unless you’ve checked with the bride first, of course. You may find it hilarious, but it is her night.
Champagne Gifts For The Bride And Hen Guests
To round off your hen weekend it’s a good idea for the chief bridesmaid to organise some memorable gifts for the bride and the hen guests – something personalised as mentioned before, such as personalised champagne for members of the hen party (you could subsidise the cost of the personalised champagne by increasing the amount you ask for when telling them the costs for the hotel, flights e.t.c!). As a hen gift, why not consider getting something even more special such as an
engraved champagne gift. If everyone is willing to club together, the cost of the champagne gifts can be absorbed into the overall weekend budget – and everyone gets a wonderful personalised and sparkling keepsake of a wonderful weekend.
