Champagne is the official toasting drink found at weddings. Usually it is the job of the best man to stand up in front of the wedding guests and bridal party to toast the newlyweds with a glass of champagne. If you are looking for champagne or sparkling wine to toast at your wedding reception, then think about the things below first.
Firstly, you will need to decide how important champagne or sparkling wine is to your wedding reception and make it clear to your caterer or venue manager, because it has been known for them to choose the toasting drink without your input.
Secondly, if you have a caterer or venue manager who is helping to organise your special day, then make sure you taste the champagne or sparkling wine first. Ensure that you enjoy the champagne, because if you don’t enjoy the champagne then your guests probably won’t either. If you are not happy with it, then choose another type, if you give enough notice the caterers or venue manager should be able to assist with your request. Obviously, if you or family members are in charge of the champagne then do the same thing – with the array of
brand champagne bottles and house champagne bottles on the market place, you will be sure to find something you will enjoy. If buying a whole bottle of numerous taster champagnes is out of your budget range, go for 25cl or quarter sized bottles instead. This will give you just the right amount of champagne you will require to come to a well decided conclusion without breaking the bank.
Thirdly, consider how will be incorporating the champagne into your reception. Would you like it to be used to toast you, or would you prefer to give a glass to the wedding guests upon their arrival? Knowing this will help you to decide how much
champagne or sparkling wine you will need to order.
Finally, if you have chosen to have your champagne served with the main meal, choose a dry or a brut champagne. On the other hand, if you would like the champagne to be served with the dessert or given out with the cake, then choose a sweeter champagne.
