A brief history of the Taittinger Champagne House: Originally established by Jacques Fourneaux in 1743, Pierre Taittinger bought the House in 1932. He changed its name to Ets Taittinger Mailly & Cie, and took full advantage of the economic conditions by buying top quality vineyards at a time when the land was incredibly cheap. A period of phenomenal post-war success established Taittinger as one of the leading Champagne Houses, and today it is still a family concern run by Claude Taittinger.
